YTD Update Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports, as of week 24 2013: Tables and Charts





The Trend Continues - Volume Down, Price Up and Value of Exports Up on Last Year: Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (week 24 2013)

Statistics Norway reported an export of 15,488 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 24, 2013. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported decreased 12.0% (-2,093 tonnes) on the same period last year.

The weighted average price per kilo for the week of NOK 39.36 was up 48.3% (NOK 13.36) YoY on a rolling average four week basis.

The value of exports for the week was NOK 609.544 million, an increase of 30.6% (NOK 146.783 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.

Tonnes exported for the week declined for the 17th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

Prices for the week increased for the 35th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

As price growth was substantially higher than the decline in volume, the total value of exports continued to increase on last year and increased for the 55th week in a row on last year (on a rolling four week basis).

Value of Exports Climbing to New Highs: YTD Update Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports, as of week 23 2013

The Norwegian Farmed Exports Report writes on a weekly basis on movements in the tonnes exported, the average price and the value of total exports of Norwegian farmed salmon based on data from Statistics Norway in the Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (see here for the most recent report). Below is an update for the same statistics, but on a Year-to-Date (YTD) basis, as of week 23 for the years 2006 to 2013.

The Norwegian farmed salmon producers has so far this year exported 331,776 tonnes of fresh and frozen salmon, down 6.2% on last year and the second highest volume ever recorded as of YTD week 23.

The weighted average price of NOK 38.68 per kilo so far this year is also the second highest ever reported and was 37.6% higher than last year.

The value of YTD total exports is about NOK 12.821 billion, the highest ever reported as of week 23 in any year, representing a 28.8% increase on last year.




Value of Exports Up 33.4% on Last Year: Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (week 23 2013)

Statistics Norway reported an export of 15,251 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 23, 2013. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported decreased 8.4% (-1,384 tonnes) on the same period last year.

The weighted average price per kilo for the week of NOK 40.28 was up 45.4% (NOK 13.13) YoY on a rolling average four week basis.

The value of exports for the week was NOK 614.288 million, an increase of 33.4% (NOK 158.008 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.

Tonnes exported for the week declined for the 16th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

Prices for the week increased for the 34th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

As price growth was substantially higher than the decline in volume, the total value of exports continued to increase on last year and represented the 54th week in a row with an increase on last year (on a rolling four week basis).
