The Trend Continues - Volume Down, Price Up and Value of Exports Up on Last Year: Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (week 24 2013)

Statistics Norway reported an export of 15,488 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 24, 2013. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported decreased 12.0% (-2,093 tonnes) on the same period last year.

The weighted average price per kilo for the week of NOK 39.36 was up 48.3% (NOK 13.36) YoY on a rolling average four week basis.

The value of exports for the week was NOK 609.544 million, an increase of 30.6% (NOK 146.783 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.

Tonnes exported for the week declined for the 17th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

Prices for the week increased for the 35th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

As price growth was substantially higher than the decline in volume, the total value of exports continued to increase on last year and increased for the 55th week in a row on last year (on a rolling four week basis).
