Exports Continue to Grow near Record Territory: Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (week 36 2013)

Statistics Norway reported an export of 17,528 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 36, 2013. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported decreased 2.9% (-484 tonnes) on the same period last year.

The weighted average price per kilo for the week of NOK 37.47 was up 42.5% (NOK 12.00) year on year (YoY) on a rolling average four week basis.

The value of exports for the week was NOK 656.785 million, an increase of 37.6% (NOK 177.367 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.

Tonnes exported for the week declined for the 29th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

Prices for the week increased for the 47th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

As price growth remains substantially higher than the decline in volume, the total value of exports continued to increase on last year and increased for the 67th week in a row on last year (on a rolling four week basis).

The trend in recent weeks is a slowing down of the percentage decline in volume on last year and a slowing down in the growth rate of prices. Growth on last year for the value of exports remains near record territory.
