Prices hit New All-Time High: Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (week 20 2013)


Statistics Norway reported an export of 14,454 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 20, 2013. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported decreased 7.0% (-1,070 tonnes) on the same period last year.

The weighted average price per kilo for the week of NOK 43.45 was up 43.5% (NOK 12.88) YoY on a rolling average four week basis.

The value of exports for the week was NOK 628.085 million, an increase of 33.5% (NOK 152.366 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.

Tonnes exported for the week declined for the 13th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

Prices for the week increased for the 31st week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis) and the weighted average price for the week of NOK 43.45 was the highest ever reported.

As price growth yet again was substantially higher than the decline in volume, the total value of exports continued to increase on last year and represented the 51st week in a row with an increase on last year (on a rolling four week basis).
