Prices Increase at Fastest year on year Pace for almost 7 years: Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (week 18 2013)


Statistics Norway reported an export of 13,531 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 18, 2013. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported decreased 10.6% (-1,649 tonnes) on the same period last year.

The weighted average price per kilo for the week of NOK 42.41 was up 45.8% (NOK 13.34) YoY on a rolling average four week basis.

The value of exports for the week was NOK 573.892 million, an increase of 30.4% (NOK 137.676 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.

Tonnes exported for the week declined for the 11th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis).

Prices for the week increased for the 29th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis) and the increase for the week was the highest for almost 7 years (since week 26 in 2006).

As price growth was substantially higher than the decline in volume, the total value of exports continued to increase on last year and represented the 49th week in a row with an increase on last year (on a rolling four week basis).
