Value of Exports Continues to Increase Significantly on Last Year: Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (week 17 2013)


Statistics Norway reported an export of 14,604 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 17, 2013. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported decreased 8.5% (-1,245 tonnes) on the same period last year.

The weighted average price per kilo for the week of NOK 41.98 was up 43.1% (NOK 12.59) YoY on a rolling average four week basis.

The value of exports for the week was NOK 613.015 million, an increase of 31.5% (NOK 134.360 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.

Tonnes exported for the week declined for the tenth week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis), but the percentage decline for the week was the lowest for five weeks. 

Prices for the week increased for the 28th week in a row on last year (rolling four week basis). 

As price growth was substantially higher than the decline in volume, the total value of exports continued to increase on last year and represented the 48th week in a row with an increase on last year (on a rolling four week basis). The percentage increase of 31.5% on last year (rolling four week average) was the highest for 10 weeks.
